In case you don't get the E-Mail.

2016 Operation North Pole - this time with 6 5 cars available.

CB&Q E-5 with red bands.

Also a re-run on the 2010 California Zephyr.

edit:  mis-took 4 units as four cars + the add-on.  It's actually five cars total plus the engine.

Thank you.

Which trains did the E-5 with the red band pull? I thought that all of them were handed over to C&S and perhaps FW&D by the time they had those red bands.

Was hoping if Kato reissued the CZ set that they'd also make either the EMD F units or the Alco PAs in the black and gold scheme.

They would have been in the general passenger power pool with all the other E7 & E8 when red, white and gray became the standard company road unit power.  At the very end of their lives you would have seen them pulling freight on the subsidery lines.

Interesting (ie weird to me) that there is no loco tie-in with this release.

I wonder if the Rocket set died in the planning stages or if its still a possibility...

Seems like Kato is reading my wishlist now that I am collecting classic passenger sets, all I need now is a re-release of the COLA and the BL.

Dig the ONP train, maybe the will do an add on for 2015 train as well. Will look great running around the layout during the holiday season with the 2015 train.

The E5 is a gorgeous engine so the as deliver to the Illinois Railway museum should be a decent seller. Scaletrains did this with the big blow so maybe we will see more museum specific engines coming out from all manufacturers in the future.

Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

It was suggested elsewhere that a WP FP7 would be a very likely possibility, since the FP7 model will be released soon along with the Olympian Hiawatha train set.

I wish you better luck getting modified tooling through the suggestion box.  I'm 0-fer.

As excited as I am to get the OH, it does kind of suck that (afaik) the shell can't be used for anything else.

Besides the different style pilot and the winterization hatch, is there anything else that would make the MLW shell incorrect for a WP model?

The WP units had dynamic brakes.

I may pick up an extra Milwaukee unit to someday kitbash into a proper CGW unit.  It's not like I don't have enough shells sitting around to do it.  :P

I talked to the Kato rep about other versions of the FP7 and he could only say that they would be done in Armour Yellow.  Surprise!  :)

I'm still holding out hope for an F unit roof with low fans and DB hatch which would yield two new F3 models.
