New Vintage Fuel Tankers from Trainworx

Here is this morning's announcement from Trainworx:

Good morning all,

I have had many requests for vintage fuel tankers, so here you go. 

Peterbilt 350 with 32' tanker:

Peterbilt 351 with 32' tanker:

Each tractor trailer set will retail for $52.95 each.  Pre orders are due June 30, 2017 with delivery expected early 2018.  Please view the color flyers at the following links.

Thanks, Carter. Sweet. Seeing that I'm figuring on representing the Sinclair refinery on my MRR, a couple of these are in my future, for sure.

Pretty cool. Anyone want to establish what vintage these are? I am guessing 1950s to early 1960s.

Hate to put it this way, but doesn't $52.95 represent a pretty steep increase from their past releases- or is it that I just haven't bought a truck for a while now?

Still, if I get rich, a couple of these are in my future too.

His basic tractors are around $20-25 and add in both the tank and collector factor (!) and he's probably close to market price . . .

I can't use these in my era, but I may save some pennies up . . . .

Price is in line with the "movie" trucks.

That's what I was thinking. I forget (and can't find) what I paid for the "Duel" trucks two years ago, but it was in this ballpark.

The price shown in the MB Klein post is - Retail Price: $41.95, then the discounted price. So, a 20% increase...

In a some what related twist, there is a complete set of the "movie" trucks on evilbay right now, with a current bid of 449.00...Almost double what they sold for new, and the auction is not done yet.....So, expensive, yes, but they seem to at least hold their value, and even possibly go up in price once they become unavailable..

I know Sinclair is all over the PNW, but I remember Hess from back East. Can anyone tell me if Hess had a footprint in the PNW in the very early 70s?
