Am I the only one who noticed this, or did I miss someone else's post?

BLW has them listed. The arch over the ends looks interesting. What's with the "body mounted knuckle couplers"? And will the grab rails be painted?

This is a little disappointing, after all this time now Bowser is going to add the correct roof to the N5 Caboose

Does anyone have an accurate history of this car?  Finding a little data on the Internet, but I don't know if any of it is true:

Some were used by the PRR.
First units built about 1916.
First steel caboose produced in the US.
Stopped production in 1942.
About 600 total built.
Some were active into the 1960's.

Can anyone verify the above?  Thanks.

The end rails and ladders are part molded with the caboose floor and were always painted. Or do you mean the curved corner grabs?

I thought the price of the previous runs was a bit steep for such a basic model.  But I got bunch of the ones from the last run at a fire-sale price from MBK.

More than a few made it all the way into Conrail paint.

I did not realize that this is a re-run, Peter.  Or are you referring to the recent release of the N5C (which had port hole windows)?

More than a few made it all the way into Conrail paint.

So one or two of these may have been active in south-central Pennsylvania in 1956.  Works for me.

People complain the DI covered hoppers re-issue didn't correct the mistakes.
People complain the Bower N5 caboose re-issue DID correct the mistakes.
This is the winter of our discontent....

They were still the most common cabin car on the Pennsylvania system in 1956, so yes, indeed.

Nope, rectangular windows.  I have a bunch of Penn Central (stock# 37122), Conrail (Stock #37111) and few B&M ones, older maroon and newer blue schemes.  They have body-mounted Rapido couplers. Bought them back in Feb. 2012 at MBK on sale. Some were as cheap st $5 each!  They must have been produced few years earlier.

So yes, these are a re-run (with a different coupler).

You bet, I now have $100 worth of cars that are now wrong, (not all of my N5's are pictured) because a correct model is going to be released. I guess my pockets are not as deep as others, maybe I'll just back out of the hobby now and leave it as a past time for the wealthy modelers. I figured if on any forum, the people on this forum would understand

Hahahahaha.

It IS frustrating when the newer version is better... At least the N5C roof fix is easy. Plug the hole, drill a new one, glue and paint.
