Bowser Airslide Hopper December 2017 Release
« on: March 10, 2017, 02:23:30 PM »
+1
Good Afternoon,

I just saw this announcement today...

http://www.bowser-trains.com/new/nscaleairslide.html

I like the multiple road names, the FVM wheel sets, and body mounted couplers. Step up from the older Delaware Valley Models that frequent auction sites and train shows.   I wonder if this will motivate MTL to get some heritage road names out there.

Thanks,
Adam

The upgrades won't help the heavily molded details though.   Good road names and a pretty good street price, but I'm glad someone's made a better model of this much-needed car.

@Shipsure  I'm shocked that MTL hasn't been all over that Brach's car (blt 1974).

I'll hold out for the MTL release. :D

I wonder what improvements "crisp details" includes. The ADM and Milwaukee schemes are tempting...
Also reminds me I need to track down the MTL GATC cars...

I don't think they'd be anything that couldn't already be done with aftermarket parts.

At least they can't mess up how many hopper bays the car has.  :P

Still disappoints me.

Since MT has a tendency to do onezies and twozies.. I'll get the BNs and blue GACXs.. and the MTS as well as they come out.. maybe retire my old DV cars..

I presume you are referring to any Centerflows they've botched by using the wrong body (3 bay with 3 outlets vs 3 bay with 6 outlets) and/or roof insert (5 round hatches, 6 round hatches, or trough hatch)?

Yeah.  But the real disappointment is that I asked them about it and was told they just grabbed whatever.  No effort to get it correct or more specifically, get it to match the art work they showed (but then changed after the release).

There's a big difference between that and the cheap cars I picked up with the expectation of having to strip the paint and swapping around roof hatches...

MTL has had time to do the Brach's and Prince and Wonder Bread schemes, but they haven't and like won;t except in a special release  4 pack. I'll probably decide NOT to play their silly marketing game and spring for the Bower car.

Are licensing fees keeping MT from those schemes?

Slightly OT, but this is TRW after all...I think it's crazy that MT has abandoned the PS4427 tooling.
And now Trainworx has their own tooling that I can just about guarantee will see more roads in a second run than MT has done to date.
