I have a few camera/lens/accessories items I'd like to sell, but I can't find a photo forum that allows members to sell stuff. I currently belong to 3 forums, but only one allows selling. However, their format is so ridiculous, I dread ever using it.

Thanks for any help.

Hmm... I KNEW Kiz would
buy more stuff than he
could ever use...

The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

I don't belong to Facebook, so I can't log in.

Hmm... Kiz lives such a
limited life...

If you use Amazon at all, Kis, (my god, look what I just wrote.  I hope that Miss Dee doesn't read this.) they will allow you to trade in your used electronics.  The trade in values can be applied to any future purchases.  Depending on condition, the trade in values are generally 50 percent of original purchase price.  You can go online and look up exactly what your equipment is worth.

FredMiranda.com, which is heavy with Nikon and Canon.

DPReview.com, which is general over all.

I just signed up for the Fred Miranda forums today. They charge for the privilege of selling there, so I'd rather not go that route. I used to belong to another forum that let me sell equipment any time for free. That was a couple of years ago, and I lost track of them.

I read DPReview occasionally, even though I shoot with film cameras w/manual focus (stone ages, I know). However, I can't find any hint as to how to sell equipment there.

Hmm... Kiz ought to make
up some For Sale posters
and put them up around
town...

Oh wow!  I think in the past Fred Miranda selling was free.  I guess they need $$$ to support the site.

DPReview has the For Sale forum:  https://www.dpreview.com/forums/1056

When I want/need to sell my Nikon stuff, I used to list it with local photography stores, either online or on their bulletin boards.  I also took professional photos of whatever I was selling, including the packaging, instruction sheets, etc (which adds greatly to the sale-ability of photography stuff) and included those.

I also listed them on eBay.

I never sold a single item through the local photography forums or store bulletin boards, but my eBay sales have all been good, and I've sold my stuff using the "buy it now" option, and usually list for a week, ending the sale on Sunday at midnight my time.

I also state in the description that my photos are of the actual item(s), are not retouched, but exposed and composed professionally.  If there are any flaws whatsoever, I photograph those and include them in my description so the buyer has no surprises whatsoever.

I've found that taking the time to produce excellent product photos, and writing a thorough description instills a sense of trust in potential buyers, who view professionally composed and exposed photos as a good indicators the seller cares about his/her reputation and takes care of his/her equipment.

Cheerio!
