One of my solutions for noisy ads, which started as a solution for a noisy workplace, is to mute the speakers on my computer.  I don't need Windows' bells and whistles, an office full of screeching, squawking, and clanging computers is very annoying, and it was hard to tell whose computer was making which noise.  So, we muted all of them.  None of our programs needed sound effects anyway.  I still do that at home.
