Fox GP60s are ariving in N

Got my SSW engines a couple of days ago. The instruction sheet recommends the Digitrax DZ125IN or TCS EUN651 decoders, and yes, it's a 6 pin plug.
These are really nice models! FVM has done an excellent job. I'm glad I got them. I intend to get the SP ones next month, and will have to figure out a way to squeeze in one or two of the Santa Fe ones. It is the Christmas season, after all.

Ordered an SSW...really excited to see these in production. I've been waiting 22 years since I asked a friend to build three GP60s from N Scale of Nevada kits based on the Kato GP50.

For DCC, I've used the Digitrax and TCS 6 pin decoders mentioned above. I sold those off to use Zimo MX622N instead. They run so much better with the Zimo.

I just got the 3 and since I don't have decoders yet, I thought I would run them on channel 0 to see if they move. They all cause Digitrax to shut down as a short! Is that normal? They run fine on an MRC power pack. And my other DC engines run fine on channel 0. Odd.

I finally got mine in today and I'm quite pleased with how they look, I can't vouch for the SSW ones. The printing/lettering is nice and crisp and the brass fire cracker antennas and horn are extremely nice. The front and rear ditch lights do function, not well, but I'm impressed they fit it all in there. However though, the shell on mine is glued together, not cool...

Interesting strategy by FVM, advertise them as having non functioning ditchlights but actually have (somewhat) functional ditchlights on them. Interest renewed for me.

Your 9601 should be on the point all the time. It is absolutely awesome. I like Matt and he puts out a good looking product, but I am sorry, they don't hold a candle to yours.

I do look forward to putting the 9601 (and my other stock LL GP60's) together with the new FVM units. I suspect they will look pretty good together. We'll see how well they speed-match, though....although I may convert them all to DCC anyway.

These come with a bunch of detail parts to add such as shades, wipers, grabs and lift rings. But man, the grabs are hard to install and you have to drill the holes. It would have been nice if they included the drill sizes for the parts.

Has anyone put all the parts on one yet?

I only added parts to their GP60M so far. One thing I didn't notice before I drilled holes for the grab irons (with a #80 twist drill) was that the FVM grabs on the 60M were skewed. Not sure if the GP60 Spartan cabs are the same. If so, one would have to be sure to drill parallel with the hood sides, not at a right angle with the mounting surface if that makes sense. Curious that the grabs are skewed like that....have not noticed any like that yet in the 1:1 world.
