Help finding Monon caboose plans

I found the perfect standard caboose for my Pac NW line, it's a Monon International-built caboose, series 81501-81509.  Anyone know where I can find plans for it?

I like the fact that it's similar to NP and GN cabooses, but a shorter wheelbase.  I don't think I'll be able to use the Atlas standard cupola extended vision caboose - 1/2 panel ends and squared end windows and different cupola window layout; and the Magor definitely won't work.  So I am thinking scratchbuild.

How about stretching a Kato Caboose? Gives you windows and a reasonably close cupola.

That's a great idea but I'd need, basically, two Kato cabooses and, probably, a donor Atlas car for a new roof.  Seems pricey, more so than scratchbuilding.

Good point, and yes would be a tradeoff in price (but you would wind up with a nicely tooled model)  :D
I believe they used Stanray diagonal panel roofs so there are many boxcar options for those (Intermountain/Deluxe 40' boxcars)

If you can't find drawings likely you can get dimensions from Kato and Atlas models the ICC cars were pretty standard.

Perhaps @ncbqguy has access to drawings, IIRC he was involved in the development of the Kato caboose (or may be able to put you on the right path)

I don't have plans for the Monon caboose; in fact the Kato shorty was based on the Belt Railway of Chicago car which I measured and drew up original plans for the factory to use.
The intent was to offer the Transfer version along with Cupola and Bay Window types all of which there are very close prototypes.   They made too many of the Cupola version and never produced the other two types which IMHO would have sold better.
The Morrison cars were modular designs so they are a good starting point for this and other longer cars.  The roofs are separate parts so splicing two cars together should work.  Plus you'll have the pickup trucks as a leftover for other projects.

I don't know if you can locate plans, but I have little doubt you couldn't find a shop diagram by reaching out the the historical society or the yahoo group (I assume they have one?).

The historical society has a few caboose diagrams online, but not that one on particular.

I have two Kato undec caboose bodies/endrails/windows I can donate to the cause, no cupolas, I used those already. When I was was working on my B&M caboose project, another forum member hooked me up with a cupola to try, so I am just repaying it forward or something like that..

That's just a standard international car, right?  I seem to recall seeing scale drawings of a SAL version floating around out there.  Maybe it's similar.

Aaron,

If you see them, please let me know where they are.  I tried searching didn't find anything.  I did find a manufacturer of an HO SAL model with a different window layout - WrightTrack.  While poking around that website I saw WrightTrack also does a model of the Monon car I want, so I emailed them about where they got the plans.

The SAL Modeler has had a few SAL cabooses with drawings I think.
