Hey Mike,

Thank you, so very much.

These are from Kato's first run. These may be closer to 20 or 25 years old. I need to look at the date (I stamped) in the boxes.

My sense of time is really crappy -- just my Wife!! LOL

Thanks again,
Wolf

With some advice and encouragement from Josh Surkosky and Chris Broughton, I finally weathered my Bachmann K4s.  I've done weathering before, but this was the first time with an airbrush.  I also used india ink wash, drybrushed acrylic paint, a small amount of Pan Pastels, and a dab of Future to "wet" the tender deck.  I also added coal loads with crushed charcoal.  On to the M1s.

Absolutely stunning .

Definitely Chicago  - the (former) Sears Tower, and Hancock tower are giveaways.   I haven't hung around Chicago for 25 years, but I don't remember giant W banners all over the place - what's that about?

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Richie, The hoppers look like they've had a fresh coat of Red Oxide Primer, because they are hauling Taconite (Iron Ore Pellets). The hoppers 5 tracks from the right, look to be hauling coke. If I was to take a guess, I'd say this photo was taken along the Union Railroad someplace close to a blast furnace?

The hoppers on the left are loaded with material that same color - mystery solved?

The diners look terrific!   I hope that you and Peteski post something about the mods to the Rapido light boards.
Are you using the battery-powered ones from Rapido or something else?    I did a very simplistic mod to mine, soldering in
a small dropping resistor across a gap I cut in the board.  But if Peteski is involved, I bet you have something more sophisticated cooking.

Using the battery-powered boards from the Bradley cars. Peteski designed integrating a micro-potentiometer which I will be implementing later this week when the pots arrive from Digital-Key. I will let him explain the design.

So iron ore pellets are lighter than iron ore ? Thinking ore cars are shorter because of weight ?

Not really. UP used ore jennies for their Atlantic City (WY)-to-SLC taconite pellet trains. Notice the loads in that picture are only about half full, so it was apparently a non-optimal use of standard hopper cars.

Lemostream's brass replacement doors for the MTL horse car used on a (rather sloppy) kitbashed B60. Thin enough to make them inset w/o interfering with the roof/glass insert.
