Yep, there are still some patched SBD cars out there, but they're getting rarer all the time.  Since CSXT came into existence in 1986, that's a full thirty years that the pictured covered hopper hasn't seen the paint shop.  Great find, and thanks for sharing, @Philip H!

Spent most of the last couple days chasing ghost railways and grain elevators, but I did manage to catch this CN freight passing the abandoned Manitoba Pool elevator at Quadra. Built in the 1970's small capacity and a design/construction flaw condemned it to water leaks and a short life.

Oh the seagull. I used to work at a newspaper in Newton, Mass. and across the street the Bay Colony would do switching and often work on their RS-1. I managed to chase it a few times. Here it is in Dover, Mass. Probably early 1990s.

Thanks Jon - Its all iPhone 6 hand held.  My kids school sits next to CSX in Bay st. Louis, Mississippi and there's a park a block away we often play at after school.
