Great stuff this week! Love the precision tools! Got to get me some! :D

Completed another SW1500 kitbash (#2642) using Atlas MP15DC shell parts. Rides on a Concor/Kato switcher chassis and has a Zimo MX621 decoder installed. Numerous BLMA detail parts applied as well as Pollyscale paints and Microscale decals....

Inspiration for these models from the Daniel Leavitt SW1500 kitbash.

....yes, the horn is mounted "backwards" as per the prototype. ;)

My grandson is getting his first trainset from his daddy (my son) on his upcoming birthday.  A Bachmann BNSF HO set with EZ Track.  He's too young for N scale and Lionel was out of daddy's price range.

Grandpa bought him an Illinois Central boxcar, a couple of turnouts, a bunch of track and a Bright Boy (when did those things get to be $7.95?).

The most fun was building him an old Plasticville station that had been in my swap box for years and was still shrink wrapped.  The station platform features figures of Dad, Grandson and Granddaughter.  The other station platform has Grandpa, Grandma and their suitcase.  All of this will be packed up this week and sent to Waterloo, Iowa.





Another generation of train lovers is ready to leave the station!

The last time I saw a vegetable peeler on a model railroad worksite was in the early 80s, when I quit making logs from balsa strips.  The peeler was great for rounding square strips quickly.  No, I bought it when I was washing dishes in high school and college, to peel carrots at work, but it worked just as well for balsa.

Roger:  Maybe the Bright Boy got expensive because nobody uses typewriters today?  Basically, it was just a typewriter eraser, and with word processors, and now PC-based writing programs, few people use erasers.  So, the market has shrunk, and the price has gone up.

Tomorrow I plan to paint the ends and bay window ends Daylight Orange and the interior zinc primer green….at least one of these will have a solid orange bay windows, since they were delivered that way.

I did get the texts. Cool line up. Wish I was there. Was Angela there?  Sounds like the venue was an improvement. Was it well attended?
