Anyone Have a Car Show Scene on Their Layout?

Always thought a good way to justify and make use of cars and trucks that are otherwise too old for my time period would be via a car and truck show on the layout. For example, I believe one of the real "Duel" trucks makes the occasional appearance at such shows. Of course, like anything, this would take up a fair share of layout real estate. That said, anyone have a scene like this on their layout and, if so, have any pics to share? Looking for ideas.

Thanks for the link and concept! I've pondered doing something that but figured it would end up looking like an earlier-era layout if everything was parked somewhat normally downtown. I thought a separate and more defined area might be better, but maybe not.

We have a similar annual car show here in our small downtown. Classic cars parked normally, all in one or sometimes two city blocks.

BTW, I can confirm the surviving "Duel" truck. A buddy used to own it, did an operating restoration, and sold it to another truck fan who now tours it. While it was here, most of the driving public didn't know its significance, but the CB sure lit up when other truckers would spot it.

Only problem is I need muscle from the late 60s to modern cars of today that are tricked out... And bikes to... Gotta have CBRs, Ninjas, GSXRs and the like...

We have a local Dog n' Suds drive-in that hosts a Cruise Night (http://www.richmonddognsuds.com/cruisers.html) every Friday, during the summer. A couple years ago I saw an absolutely gorgeous, two-tone Green, 1965 Rambler Marlin there. Had one of those "3-foot thick" paint jobs. Seriously flawless.

By the way, if anyone is interested, GCLaser has a kit - Lou's Drive In - that is based on the local Dog n' Suds. (It's right across the state line from Genoa City, in Richmond IL.)

I think a cruise would be a great way to showcase your classics without making it look like a 1950's grocery store parking lot.

I'll second the motorcycle call.  Yes, Woodland Scenics has a set of choppers (which I have); Micorn Art has an old indian that is in etched brass that builds up nicely (or is it a vincent?) and there have been a couple of cast pewter bikes in a 1950's Harley body style.  I'd think this would be perfect for Shapeways . . . .

Reno has Hot August Nights every year and they have cars displayed in just about every venue that has a parking lot, Casinos, shopping centers, office complexes. It is bizarre to see cars everywhere!
