Freon Transportation

I'm sure somebody here knows this answer but I want to add a business that makes heating and air-conditioning units for residential and business. I want to add rail service of delivering freon but not quite sure what kind of tank car that would carry this ? Would a chemical car work or something that handles pressurized gas ? Been searching eBay and trying to find a correct style of car for this.

I'm not sure they ship Freon in bulk.  I quick Google search found plenty of sites selling, buying, or discussing Freon in cylinders, individually or by the pallet, but a search for "bulk Freon" just got the pallets.

If that's the case, it would come by truck or boxcar.  In most cases I've seen, non-portable AC units are charged after installation, so there would be no need for a big tank of the stuff at the factory, and the little window units don't use much individually.

I ran across this old AHM car.  Though I don't know at this time if this car was build from a actual one or a foobie ? It does have a heater on top to regulate the inside temperature during cold periods. Only problem is I don't think this kind of car is ran anymore since I'm modeling a modern layout ?

Bulk transportation of freon is likely handled predominantly by trucks especially in the modern era.
If it were transported by rail it would likely be handled like Liquid Argon, Nitrogen or Oxygen, transported in a Cryo tank car.

My company is in the refrigerant chemical business (Forane is our brand name). Depending on the particular refrigerant shipped (22, 125, 134, 404, 410) car types will vary amongst 105's, 111's, and 114's.

Misaberoad.......thanks for that link. Went and ordered the Lindes cryogenic car.  Had no idea that Broadway Limited was doing these cars. 😁

Sorry to be late to the table, but I always post under another topic. This is a Freon car from the sixties I built cut down a Atlas LPG car. I built a top platform, new saddles and end platforms. The BLI cars never hauled Freon, it wasn't cold enough to need that type of car. I built three BLI style cars a while back. I hope the photos show up.
