So the big question is how many of our Tehachapi layouts are going to be pushed back into the 90's?  :D

Technically my layout could, since it does not have concrete ties.  But (a) it does have the tunnel portal notching, and (b) I don't have any SP motive power

Alternate Universe!  Narita Express, Penn Central Passenger trains pulled by FL9's, TGV Duplex, all running together in Harmony!

Neat.

Conrail ran these too, somewhere up in northern PA I think.

There is no need, Google Earth show a set loading at San Ardo in 2015.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

Wow... the announcement does say, "Athearn" and its N-scale!!!

I seem to recall that at one time the Vermont Rwy. was running these as well... don't know how long the operation lasted but I was surprised to see some shots of this.

San Ardo (actually Wunpost) is the new (post 1998) loading facility on the coast line. Prior to the Pipeline being extended over the mountains the oil cans were loaded near Bakersfield, and ran over the loop.

Either way it would be a cool train to have!

Crap.  Now I have to make a decision about whether to break my rule against modeling fossil fuels.  This is certainly the only exception I would make.

CN also runs a similar train, some detail differences but perhaps a future paint scheme!

Mine was already set in 1993. I'm golden.  :ashat:
