Got my five FL9s today.  One with sound, four without.  These things are a work of art.  Going to give them a spin later.

Gee!
family members favourably commenting on my Railroad. I hope to pick mine up next week and bring them home with me.
I will have to let him come over and have a run rather than bringing over those western road models.

They run superbly.  Also notable is that the volume on the sound unit is not cranked up to volume 11.

Your decoder's volume goes up to 11?!  Mine only go up to 10.  :(

Rumor has it Marshall is exploring the DCC sound market; I hear they managed to miniaturize the tube.......great reverb

The FL9's do look scrumptious ...
What are the little orange doohickeys on the roof of the NH units?

Pantographs?  They were true Diesel/electric locos.  :)

Then why are the pans (orange doohickeys) not on all of the unit?

Hope I get an email from BLW very soon. Also awaiting new release of Atlas C420's. They should have been on shelves already, unless that ship sank.
Panto's and 3rd rail pick-up, as I believe these ran into GCT. Do remember smelling diesel fumes there one day, many moons ago.

Because they were delivered on only the first 30 units and not the subsequent 30.  I believe they were removed from the first 30 as well when they were modified in 1960.  They were used for traversing double slip switches underneath Grand Central, due to no third rail.  But it was just as easy to coast through the switches without having to raise the pantograph.

This is gonna sound weird, but those fans are BEAUTIFUL.

I really, really, really, wish Rapido did more stuff in N.

Imagine a full line of Fs of the same quality.

Or GPs.

Or, you know, a SD40-2.

I'd happily go broke making Jason and the crew rich.

I still may end up getting one of those conrail units . . . that may be my favorite Conrail variation.

Did the FL9's run anywhere outside the "commuter corridor?"

In other words how far west would they have ventured after the merger?
