Just had a thought, not knowing the schedule of the train.  If the train is anywhere near the N Scale Weekend in Altoona (Aug 20-21), maybe the person in charge could bring it and have it run on the layouts there.   :)

Scott

Oh yeah...there's going to be a lot of us there. It would be a convenient time for the PA/MD asshats to take the train. But of course, Tim spent a lot of time organizing things and can understand if he doesn't want to change it.

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

I think that would be great, but I'd prefer it to take longer to get to me...

I still have a bit of work to do to get ready!

I'm wondering about the photographic record of this event. I don't know why TRW doesn't directly host photos, but with everybody using a wide range of photo servers, some of which eat people's pictures or the modeler drops that service, hopefully there will be some permanent recorded compilation of the photos people take, to  at least for the family. A thumbdrive, or CD, or something. Otherwise when servers drop then the online record will have gaps in it.

LEE: better get in gear. I waited too long and now the train's here already. At least you have finished buildings.

It does, but there is only limited storage space available. I try to only upload photos really vital to a thread (and only if there are only few to post). When the tome comes to post my photos on this the Memorial Train thread, I will upload them to TRW.

What?!?!? No LIGHTS on the MM Train? That sucks --- I wanted to have a nice night shot. I tried the EP wand on them and no go. Now wait a minute ... are we supposed to believe this train ran in broad daylight on every foot of every railroad it travelled over across an entire continent? Some guys have nifty night-lighted districts, too bad the MM train can't be seen "at night" in them. What about dusk shots? Or cloudy day shots?
The Rapido batteries are supposed to last a year so I can't see them giving out before the tour ends. Oh well...

OK, peteski, what's the magic incantation I use to get photos posted directly on TRW? I have pics of the Mike McGratton Train I'm supposed to post ASAP.

When you post a message, under the text window there is a little "+" button and next to it you'll see "Attachments and other options". Click on the "+", then Browse to your photo and select one. Then to the right of that pull down and select "Inline full-size image".  If you have more, click on "(more attachments)" under the one you just attached and repeat the process.

Before you start attaching, make sure your cursor in the text window is in the spot you want the attachment to show up.  Also, don't forget to spin a rubber chicken 5 times over your head after each attachments, or they will not work properly.  8)

Once it gets to Social Butterfly @Ed Kapuscinski, I'm sure things will happen. I've already made plans to shuttle the train down to the "Face that Runs this Place".
You could even call these "flag stops" where if someone on the list has someone local, they just do a day long excursion.

It spread to the other eye just when I thought it was all over. I actually had to take yesterday off sick. I'm a lot better today.

Adding the occasional "Flag Stop" is a good idea, to a point.  Flag stops should still check in with Tim, and make sure that everyone who handles the train is noted.  Not just for the purpose of acknowledgement, but to make sure we keep to the schedule.

L'il Puddy was a freight car, so a day or two of demurrage here and there didn't make much difference, however, it did end up traveling the globe for over two years...  This is a passenger train, and needs to keep to a schedule!  Remember, Sam and Marge are down at the platform waiting for the train to return...

So, uh, can someone blacken the trip pin on that observation car?

I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't call it out.  :ashat: :ashat: :ashat: :ashat: :ashat: :ashat:
