I finished up my Q waycar project this week with the 3973.  It's not an exact replica of the prototype but I have that luxury since the Burlington is not my primary road

Did we miss the build thread on this?? Very well done!

Oh those lawns look great , and how you blended them by the tracks . I was going to suggest the frogs be painted the same as the rail sides , but that is impossible to maintain on a working layout . I wish there was a halfway between the old Atlas black plastic frogs and these metal frogs . If Atlas could make the tops of the frog guard rails .020 thousandths less in height we could paint them . That way wen we clean the rails the guard rail would be not scrubbed clean . I suppose we could grind them down and then paint them , but that would take time away from everything else . Anyhow that looks great Chris , and nice touch showing the old cinder black ballast on the edges of the re-ballasted roadbed .

My daughter and I went to the trainshow in Hickory, N.C. this morning where I scored my third Micro Trains arched roof circus observation car that I needed for my future business car models!!!  Been looking all over eBay without any success but found the only one at the show and bought it for less than either of the models I bought on the bay... a win, win situation to say the least...

Now time to eat and crash... been up all night waiting to go this morning so now I have to have a little me time... such is life.

That layout is just amazingly real looking along with Puds phenomenal work. What brand and code of track is that on the Erie door layout?

The track is ME code 55 flex and hand built turnouts.

I did go back and change the interchange track.

Here's a shot of my G scale Rio Grande Southern layout this afternoon.  You can see that I model the period after 1947 when the prototype RGS's only rotary snowplow exploded at Vance Junction.     For reference, Bilk Trestle is in the lower right where the visible drift is.



Also picked up an eBay steal...a new combine to match the coach in the good ole' D&RGW "Grande Gold" scheme.  I paid $10 for it (shipping was twice that!).

Gun bluing would take the shine off those guard-rails and frogs without inhibiting operation.

I use "Super Blue".  Does a great job.

Thanks for all the kind words guys.  Here is a pre-painted picture of the comboose.  It's basically an Athearn overland combine with a Micro-trians caboose roof.  The cupola is a resin NP casting by Gregg Scott.  The end ladders are from a Kato caboose.

I recently got a bunch of Shapeways parts, and now I have all the parts to finish the cars and locos shown....I can't wait to try the brick pavement rollers, and the winterization hatches by forum member Wutter are perfect!

Looks like some cabooses are gonna get some new Panamint "Q" trucks! 

I use 'em on many of my UP cabooses that I improve or kitbash from Goldenwest Models & MT, and they really add to the level of detail and accuracy of my cabooses...
