I finished my second Procor car tonight.  I lucked out that a MicroScale lading set included hydrogen peroxide as an option.

An early Penncentral coal train passes through Bradylake, the location for my soon to be done abandoned bridge that will cross the mainline here. The scratch built line pole arms look a tad thick may need to try 1/32" wood strip as opposed to .0416".

I've had a tough weekend; my health forced me to cancel going to Calgary and SuperTrain with the Rapido posse.... it's a fantastic show, we take the "Canadian" out and make a week of trains and fun of it but this year my body and it's little friend, cancer, decided I wasn't up to it.... depressing.... so I made the best of it by running some trains and drinking coffee....

Later we caught the same consist passing Kanto station.... nice place to sit up here on Dore hill..... helps a guy forget all the bad stuff.....

Yankeetown Dock #2 is at The Age of Steam roundhouse in Sugar Creek Ohio.  When the G&W bought OC it went with Jerry into his collection.  I moved to nearby Evansville Indiana in the late 80's and never saw them.  I'm guessing there were gone from The Yankeetown by then.

I added some static grass around the abandoned truck. I need to tone down the color a bit, but I'm pleased with it.


I also have a started a smaller tree to replace the bigger one.

Chuck:  While I've been in Wenatchee many times, I won't claim to be familiar with all of the industries.  That said, I don't remember ever seeing a grain elevator there.  Lots of concrete fruit warehouses, making almost a solid wall along the tracks, but Wenatchee was never a big grain or livestock town.  On the other hand, there MAY have been one, so if you have any evidence of it, I stand corrected. 

Appleyard did handle a lot of wheat, in boxcars, until the Mansfield Branch was finally abandoned.  The ancient rail on that branch was never replaced, and 50 ton boxcars were the heaviest grain cars allowed.  Some of the rail was recycled from the original GN mainline construction in the 1890s.

Build the warehouses to scale, and the railroad at eye level, and you might not need a backdrop, other than the sky.

Are you going to model the live steam/diesel Wenatchee River Railway in the park along the Columbia?  I managed to ride their train in 2003, and was a little surprised to see that they had a model of pne of D&RGW's long narrow gauge stock cars. lettered WRR 5963.  The surprise was that my narrow gauge also has a model of that same car, WRRY 5963.  I was tempted to ask if I could temporarily stick a Y on theirs for a photo, but thought better of it.

I agree with whoever said the lawns on those adjacent houses should look different. Whether color, height of grass, dead spots, a worn pathway (which seems would be on the house nearest the tracks). Unless your anti-blight ordinances are REALLY strictly enforced....
However, the whole scene is very nicely done overall. The signal wires (poles) feed directly into the tower?

Reworked the KATO smoothside diner (UP prototype) into a UP lunch counter-lounge car, just to see how hard it would be:



That side wasn't too bad, just needed to cut and fill some windows. The other side required a lot of cuts and rearranging of the side walls, along with cutting and/or filling windows.



Kinda crude but it was the experimental attempt. My second one turned out much nicer. Third one should be perfect.
With the new window arrangement I had to rearrange the seating area interior, but the splices and fillers there won't be seen with the body on. The open area at the rear is the lounge; I'll make seats out of pieces of styrene. I also moved the light from ity's original place to the middle of the car, inside the kitchen area. Haven't tried yet to see if it works.
One of the things to be wary of when remaking KATO cars is the window inserts have to be modified to match the new window sets, and you need to put in cutouts and clip holder slots in the rearranged window insert to match the tabs, slots and recesses inside the roof and walls.
