Zombies, Psychotic killers and N-scale trains on national TV

This evening (Tuesday), as I was watching the second season finale of "I, Zombie" on the CW channel (isn't everyone into the Zombie Apocalypse?), the series' villain known as Mr. Boss was seen lovingly caressing an N-scale Bachmann 4-8-4 from that company's "Empire Builder" train set with the set's freight cars still shown in their styrofoam packaging and the box top in the background.

In the scene, Mr. Boss showed the locomotive to two of his thugs while describing the engine as the Empire Builder, the famous passenger train operated by the Great Northern Railroad (the show is set in modern day Seattle.) Later in the show, two HO scale freight cars are seen atop a filing cabinet in the villain's office.

Even though this was the season ending, I suspect the producers may be setting us up for the next season which may or may not feature the bad guy spending additional time with his model train set. For those interested, the finale was a two-hour episode actually consisting of two one-hour episodes run back-to-back, and the train scene appeared in the first five minutes of the second half.

So now N-scale trains are becoming a fashion statement for psychotic killers in shows about the undead!?! Must be the end times approaching.

End times?  Hardly.  They said that in 1964, and we've made it this far.  And in those days, they were serious, none of this off the shelf Bachmann stuff...

(Eerie music in background....we find ourselves magically transported back to 1964....)

I gave up rivet counting when I couldn't see an N scale rivet anymore.

Actually, seeing the Addams Family at the age of six is why I even wanted a train set...

First of all, it's the combination of modeling N scale AND HO scale that makes him crazy.

Second of all, on the Adams family, the train that gets blown up on the bridge is a GP-9 on point, a F-7 as the second locomotive and then an RDC. The steam train in front of the bridge doesn't have a tender. Now THAT is all just crazy!

I always remembered that train set as being MUCH bigger.

Hermon Munster and Grandpa had a much larger railroad in the dungeon.

It's not just 1964.  I recall several in the last few decades.  For your reading pleasure, here's a list of apocalypse predictions that, thankfully, didn't come true:

@Ed Kapuscinski,

I actually think it's a Minneapolis & St. Louis GP9.  See?

Oh, and @JMaurer1, that's not an RDC, it's a Lionel version of a Santa Fe dome car.

I don't think that the Eli Manning commercial was 'promoting' model railroading... :-X

Ok, I admit. I like N scale. I want to state for the record that I am a zombie, not a psycho killer. That is "far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far better..."
Buffering...
