Where would the MTL horse car be positioned?

With the new MTL horse car, I'm wondering where it would have been positioned in the train.
Would it have been placed between the mail cars and baggage or elsewhere?

It likely would have been placed ahead of the mail car though that could vary at times due to car destinations and the like.

I thought though, that there was no through traffic in the mail car.
Wouldn't people need access to the horse car, either owners or trainer/stable hands that needed food or something available in the train.

The MT model has no end doors in it, no?

The Micro Trains car does, indeed, have end doors on one end.

If it was being used for express (not carrying livestock) it could be placed anywhere on the headend.   I have read that when carrying horses a couple stable hands would ride along to feed, water and clean stalls.

Many mail and express cars were sealed. They would be head pin along with any working RPO cars. Messenger equipped cars (horse cars) and passenger baggage cars would be in front of the coaches.

Ah, that would be nothing.  There was a train that ran once every couple of weeks on the CNR Huntsville Subdivision...the "hide" train.  Went up from the Toronto Stockyards all the way to Huntsville, ON (about 150 miles) with about 20 to 30 old boxcars (usually old Fowler boxcars) filled with cowhides, for the tannery that was located in Huntsville.  It was the lowest priority train, so had to take the siding whenever any other passenger or freight came (and the Huntsville Sub was quite busy, as one of the two lines that connected Toronto and points east with Western Canada).  Typically, it was pulled by an old Consolidation, so not a fast train by any means).  While it would be bad enough for the head end crew, it must have been absolute hell for the crew in the caboose...especially during the summer, when some of those boxcars had been sitting loaded in the hot sun for up to two weeks before the train made its run.

No, I want a prototypically-correct model.  I would be fine with the MTL model if it wasn't ¾" too short.
