Putting hands on some of those PS-2600's CSX paint-outs would be nice. But the BN would be #1 on the list, since it would just be a matter of removing the BN marks and numbers and then decal for SOUTHERN. Of course, as soon as I do that, they would finally release a few in Southern paint...

Southern didn't order any PS 2600's, Athearn would have to paint them as foobie rebuilt PS-2's.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of the # series to look for pictures....

Found a few examples - you could clearly see where Southern raised the height on what used to be a 2003 cuft PS-2 (like the Atlas model):

Also found a picture of a PS 3510 that could be kitbashed from a pair of PS 2600's:

Yes, I think the "effect" of wield lines could be achieved with paint or very, very thin styrene... it would just be a matter of trying it out. At least this is a very close starting point. Thanks for finding some examples, too!

That would be a fun build!

More fun for Southern modelers, but with the 60' PS auto parts car:

Damn it !  Looks like another email to the LHS to order some of the CSX paint outs.  Good thing these don't show up until the end of the year.  Though with my luck, that will be the time the Intermountain SD40-2 will finally arrive (yeah, I'm not holding breathe til then either), along with the Atlas 4750's, and Intermountain Trinity 3281 covered hoppers that I've ordered the last few weeks.

I think the N&W cars were leased from SP. Though I only see 600407-600415 in this series*. These were patched (more so than you see these days).

Here's 600407: http://www.boxcars.us/Boxcars_M_Z/NP-NZ/pages/image040.html

These are the SP cars leased to N&W (circa 1970 or so):

I am curious if Athearn is now doing a version without the roofwalk (the N&W & L&N cars I have from the 1st run have etched metal roofwalks).

* 600423 is in the background of this shot: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=358138

Southern just had to be different. But that's why we love them!  :D

Besides CoG, who else had 3510s?
