Thank you!  And thank you to the people who posted such nice things to the Facebook RMC page  (but as I am a
curmudgeon and a cynic who considers Facebook to be Satan incarnate, I won't be able to post back there because I
don't have an account   :D   )

It has been a long  road for that article.  I submitted it 2 years ago, and it was almost ready to be published
when Carstens went out of business more than a year ago.   
Thankfully, Stephen Priest and the team at the new RMC took hold of
all the backlog of work from Carstens and did not let it languish.  I think they are doing a beautiful job with that magazine,
by the way.

Congratulations Max.

I don't read RMC, but judging by your threads I see here and articles in the NTRAK  Steam Loco Info Books, I'm sure that your article is very well written and informative.

You won't be disappointed.  The physical appearance is on heavy, gloss paper, slightly larger size than
it used to be.  The editing, layout, writing, proofreading, and article selection are all positively terrific.
The whole appearance of it is a stunning improvement over the old RMC, and I liked the old RMC.

Hearing the comments about the staff there reminded me. I was incredibly relieved to hear that WRP took over from Carstens. White River does amazing work on a boat load of Historical Society publications, and I figured they'd do right by the brand.

I'm glad to hear I was right about that.

The last year at Carstens was challenging to say the least. I wanted to get Max's article in the magazine in the worst way but at a certain point it became blatantly clear that had it been published he would have never been paid for it. I am very happy to see RMC on the rebound and looking sharp. I had always hoped that the day would come for Max's article and it finally did.  Well done Max!

Wow, Scott.  I hadn't even thought about that (not getting paid).  For quite a few years, Carstens had been very sluggish about paying authors. 

Many heartfelt thanks to you, Scott, and to ALL you folks here.  Being able to work on these monster projects is easier when I can work on a section at a time, get some feedback and suggestions, and then press on.  It seems much more like a fun expedition and not just a grueling project.  So thank you to everyone for helping me have more fun and make better models.

Sluggish hardly covers it.   It took almost two years to get paid for my rotary snowplow article, and I had another author friend that was a regular contributor have to help me by holding one of his articles hostage.   

So, looks like I'll look into it myself as well.

Well deserved, I am sure, and I can't see the link at work because of filters.  :drool:

Max does amazing work, so I am sure I will have my socks blown off when I can look from home.

Glad to hear RMC is rebounding well. Paper quality issues are one reason I let two magazine subscriptions expire. If the cover is easily damaged to detached, I usually don't buy a mag.
