Bruce, the modeling is incredible, the photography is simply amazing. Not sure if it is possible to pull off, but a street sign on the corner is about all that is missing, although there are plenty of examples in the real world of intersections without road names...

Here's my Conrail Olympic Trails unit. I was racing bicycles at the time Conrail painted those units and saw a picture of the 40-2 in Velonews or Bicycling magazine and new I wanted one. Several years later when I found out an SD 50 had also gotten that scheme, and Atlas had undecs available, this came out of the paint shops and occasionally runs on the Modutrak layout when I want to run modern stuff like BLMA spines.

That SD50 is very cool. I love when railroads paint special locomotives for events and such.

It could be - miniature optics (tiny lens and image sensor) result in a surprisingly large depth of field.

Even though we have a digital EOS Rebel, I rarely use...
I loved my Canon S2...kind of a hybrid SLR/Point-and-Shoot...
when it finally gave up the ghost, I had my eyes (still do) on the current incarnation of the line, the Powershot SX50..But until I actually pull the trigger and aquire one, I make do with a Canon Powershot SX510HS, a Wi-Fi friendly compact point and shoot with a 30x zoom..very compact and a great little all round digital. I'll probably have the SX50 in a month or so, so that will probably end up being my 'go to' camera for model and railfan photography...

1962 gas prices are right too.

I don't know about that... I can remember gas for 10¢ and 13¢ respectively around 1960 (only because dad ran out of gas and had to walk to the station, about a mile away).  Besides that, I bought gas as low as 25¢ in 1971 (gas war, Yah... regularly priced at 45¢).

I can remember it being 17 cents in 1967 when I was a struggling college student. I was outraged when it went to 19 cents.

I remember 25 cent gas in Denver in 1970 when I was stationed a Lowery.

May have been different in other parts of the country.

I pumped a lot of 27 to 29 cent gas late 60's to very early seventies.  Then 1973 happened.
