Puddington:  I'm fairly sure the CB&Q never owned a woodchip car, but yours looks reasonable.  I like the idea of using the covered hopper scheme on it.

But what is that SP&S car?  I can't recall ever seeing a chip car that looked like that anywhere in the Inland Northwest.  An SP prototype from western Oregon, maybe?

You're 100% correct on the CBQ - I painted that when I lived in Vancouver, before I was married (like about 1997) and back then I didn't know a prototype from a blood type... if it looked good I was in..... and that's the problem; it does look good in the covered hopper scheme....

The smooth side cars were never bought by the SP&S but they tested them; albeit I don't think they painted them like that - again; another early flight of fancy......

These cars had been gathering dust for so long I'd forgotten about some of the liberties I'd taken back in the day...... oh well....

Damn!  It certainly looks plausible.  I was hoping you were going to reveal that it was an SP&S cartype that I somehow missed - it looks great!

One track plan - this is for the Kanto module - the mill module behind it is still up for debate.....

Puddington:  Thank you.  If the SP&S tested them they were probably an early Gunderson Brothers design, and if any were sold, the SP likely bought them.  It does look plausible for an SP&S car, and I suspect that's what they would have looked like, if they'd bought them.  The same paint and lettering style as the GS gon conversions.

As for the CB&Q, there are paper mills in the upper Midwest, and if any of them decided to buy prechipped wood, instead of raw pulpwood logs, the railroads would have needed chip cars.  Maybe the Q added a few to one of the GN's orders?

As long as you're freelancing the railroad itself, a few never-built cars aren't a problem.

Bonjour Louis: Thanks for the encouragement. I used Krysal Kleer, tinted with stained glass paint.

Neither the Leafs or Habs play hockey anymore..... I don't know what they play but it ain't hockey......

Spent some time making grab irons...96 of them for a fleet of baggage cars.
I actually got pretty good at it. I averaged 45 seconds per grab iron. I used a BLMA jig to bend .008 music wire.

The company would take derelict Aerovan trailers, cut windows out and slap it on a COE chassis. Instant delivery van. Those windows must have leaked something awful.

Craziest truck conversion I ever saw online was this Aerovan - stepvan - Class 8 COE 3 step conversion seen here:
