Got to know how these actually run before I'll fork over almost $400 for brand new tooling.  Especially on an N-Trak layout with all its undulations and skewed track.  Do the sound decoders cut out and reset?  Do they stay coupled to your train?  Do they make it through switches and connecting tracks? How does the sound coming from both A's of an A-A seem to you, awesome?

I was planning on getting a set but they appear to be sold out at MBK. I am sure these will be popular considering the brass ones are still selling at premium prices and they are certainly not premium machines. I hope I didn't miss my chance..

Sadly, I was in a bad position today where where my these were delivered today, but the NTRAK show was also today. I was slated to head to the show (Timonium) but things happened and I didn't sleep well so I didn't go. The bright side is that I was able to stay home and take delivery of them!
The sound of BOTH units is amazing. One unit is pretty beefy for what it is.  Two made me all giddy.
I bought the AA single stripe set.
They come with 4 additional optional traction tire wheel sets and 2 MTL couplers if you with to run them as singles. There is a "draw bar" on the front A unit that screws in to a coupler picket on the rear A unit.
I may try to make it up to Timonium tomorrow to run these for a few loops and tear down.
One thing...however, like my PA set, the wheels are out of gauge. Every single one of them, but that's easy enough to fix.

They're absolutely perfect, Glenn. Never mind that Pennsy stuff, pick-up a set in UP for me.

(We've blown the budget and then some on other stuff. Fantasy, even plausible fantasy, can't be justified at the moment.)

The rear unit is already set to run backwards, so that's cool. Should I set both decoders to the lead unit?

I still love my BLI E7 that I have owned for at least two years.

I just received my BLI PRR E-7's from Trainworld yesterday.  Need to give them a test run.  I expect they will run fine, like the BLI E8 and PA units I have.  I just ordered the last pair of PRR single stripe Centipedes from MBK this morning.  I'm surprised at how quickly the PRR units sold out at MBK.     

BTW - Factory Direct Trains is running a good sale on BLI E7's now.

Check the BLI on-line instructions.  On the E8's I found a very easy consisting option that turns the bell and horn off on the trailing unit while keeping engine sounds on.  Don't recall how I did it, only that it was really easy once I found it in the instructions.

Thanks, Roger. I found them in the book that was hiding. I still need to decide what is the best way to do it. I'd like both horns to work and all that stuff. Don't like having to remember a consist number.
