What is it?  A modern version of a bunk car?  Or did someone buy a used flatcar and build a summer home on it?  I notice it still has trucks, but the extra room is on a foundation, so it would have to either be removable, or the car is permanently parked.

I finished my latest addition to my EL business car fleet.  This car is Erie #4 which is a converted 10-1-2 sleeper.  The car stayed in Erie two tone green paint through the EL.  Today the car sits along the Susquehanna in Midland Park, NJ.  I finally got the right formula for etched stainless as far as rivet sizes and things of that nature.  Neat looking Erie painted car swimming in a pool of EL grey maroon and yellow.

This week I started painting some of my BC Rail fleet. First up the late scheme red white and blue units. Pictured here are two 8-40c, an M420, an SD40-2 and two wide vision cabooses.

I shot the white first and let it sit a couple of days. Now they are masked and ready to shoot the blue.

Edited for the sake of the children.

Great work again guys. Love the way the locos look in your service facility Jim and really like the way you have masked your locos craigoloi 1. That idea of using the plastic instead of wrapping in masking tape is very cool.

You might want to see a doctor for that.  :D

Thanks Rod.

It's actually medical tape. I used clear scotch tape to cover the top of the first 8-40CW and then ran out.

Scott, it's about time eh?  This is a small portion of the fleet. Just the ones in this paint scheme.  I also have a BC Hydro SD38-2 and a SW-900 going into the paint shop this week. Masking the striped handrails was the bigest PITA ever but wait until you see them! They turned out really nice. Don't worry I'll get back at that bridge eventually ;)

Eric, aparently my phone auto corrects into profanity!  Haha.

Oops, I had better mask the front of the SD40-2 before I SHOOT it.

I did some searching, and I could not find that number being used by the McCloud

The bulkhead flat car sits near the end of the track of where the McCloud Railway dinner train would load and unload passengers.
I believe I heard it was converted into some kind of kitchen car.
I believe it's still sitting there today or at least it was this summer when I visited McCloud 3 or 4 times.
You can see it in this Google Streetview:
https://www.google.com/maps/@41.2537297,-122.1395359,3a,75y,349.74h,87.52t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sjHGIRFNiB7B6ktq0ptCp4Q!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1

I thought I would be able to find more info about it on Jeff Moore's McCloud Rails website but I don't see it: http://www.trainweb.org/mccloudrails/

BTW, I asked my wife to marry me on the McCloud dinner train a bit over a decade ago!

My weekend project:

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

The lights in these two panels have been lit up in 20+ years. Last weekend on a whim I decided to take the left panel and see if I could get the lights to come to life again. And I did. Some thought and careful work was required to make the lights act as absolute route indications, but in the end everything came out ok.
Friday night I pulled an all-nighter and wired up the right-hand panel. It took me longer as I wanted to take more care and diligence in wiring everything up so that everything would be nice and neat.
If you were to look inside the left panel, it looks like I wired it up using a road flare and a hand grenade.
The right panel looks very nice and orderly inside.

I just need to figure out what to replace the heat-generating bulbs with that is just as bright, if not brighter right, so that the light properly illuminates the glass switchboard light caps.
