Are replacement parts out there for old brass locos?

Whether from the maker, or the distributor, scrappers, or some kind of aftermarket? Specifically looking for the front tender truck frame for a Samhongsa/Key UP FEF. Have the wheels and screw. Any leads or info would be appreciated.

You probably have already tried this, and I have never tried for parts for brass locos, but for old parts in general, try calling around to some of those well known, long established hobby shops.  They have all manner of stuff in drawers behind the counter, boxes in the back, that sort of thing.  I would think that a store that specializes, or once did, in brass would be your best bet.  I've had good luck coming up with odd bits like parts for Pecos River cars, retrofit frames, and out of print decals.
I live in a place with no LHS, so I try to fit several hours of shopping into my travel plans.  And it doesn't hurt to chat with one of the employees who has been around for a while, there is often a lot of stuff that isn't on the inventory anymore, hiding away somewhere, and you may get the 1979 price to boot.

Caboose Hobbies used to have a full-service brass department in the back corner of the store, not sure if they still do. You might try giving them a call.

  is Crown Custom Products still around ?
  looked at a 2009 AD last nite, they said they had some brass parts
  and plenty of brass trucks-mostly freight car trucks.
  maybe they can find something that would work ?

I have asked this question of brass dealers (like Uncle Dave's Brass, and others over the years),
brass importers (like Key and Precision Scale),
hobby shops, and anywhere else I could think of over the past 20 years, and the answer was always the same:

                                                           "Probably not, but you might get lucky."   

The only actual brass loco "surplus" parts I've ever really seen are the ones sold on eBay by wisemod services.
Beyond that, I got "lucky" once and bought a bunch of brass freight car trucks from John C. Smith at a train show
(surplus from some N scale covered hoppers he once made).

It would be like finding a 5 leaf clover.

What brand of brass do you have and what are you looking for in parts? gene maddox

The part would be the truck and sideframe of the lead (4-wheel) tender truck on the Key/samhongsa UP FEF, #53 (may be the item number). Have the wheels and truck screw. I didn't know what the situation was for brass parts, was looking for some info on finding any.
