When Bachmann came out with their Berkshire, I bought three. Two of them I was able to get running acceptably well, but the third I could never get satisfied with. Pondering what to do with it (I had already made too many modifications to the electronics to send it back to Bachmann), I decided to experiment by using the Bachmann tender (in which I had already installed an ESU LokSound decoder with a Knowles Dumbo speaker in a custom enclosure firing up at the coal load) on a Walthers/LL Berkshire. It worked - in fact, the result is a somewhat-closer-coupling tender than the LL tender, which I like better than the original tender coupling distance. An added benefit is that the Bachman tender has far superior electrical pickup.
