I have a 2006 Precision Craft Models N Scale E7 sound equipped loco.
Runs very smooth but very fast, I have the stock sound decoder still in it.

I have a Digitrax Super Chief with a PR3 - JMRI interface for programming.

The problem is I am now trying to fine tune the speed of this loco.  Out of the box, default CV settings this puppy does about 180smph.
Playing with Vmax (cv5) and Vmid (CV6) I found I could get it to run about 75 with cv5 at 12 and cv5 at 6, however when I drop cv5 to 11 and cv6 to 5 the loco slows to about 56smph.  It would be nice to dial this into about 70 +/- 2 or 3 smph so it could be used with other locos.

Are there other CV's I could be playing with to open up the control range?  Vmin = 2,  Vmid = 5 and Vmax = 11 gets me close but...

You have to set the CVs to 12 and 6 (out of 0-255 range) and you get the full speed down to only 76 Smiles/hr?!?!

That is weird!  I'm not familiar with that decoder, but it sure is acting strange.  I would have expected the speed down to 90 Smiles/hr with Vmax set to 128, and 45 Smiles/hr with Vmax set to 64.  Set to 12, the loco should be crawling at full throttle.

Maybe you will need to enable custom speed table (assuming that decoder has those)?

And people bitch that Kato locos are speedy locos - seems that this one is just as zippy!

Found the manual on line PCM LokSound.
Not a robust set of controls.  Going to have to dig out more info.

4-6-15 -- Well a little more digging turned up a LokSound V3.5 manual (52 pages) not the "typically used CV's" instructions that were included in the box.  Reset the decoder and started with CV1 and calculated just about all 255 CV's.  The loco now runs and sounds great .  Still had to tame the top end speed but after the reset I have a wider control range.
