Fixing my GMD-1

Well when regaging my wheels i popped out the truck. Not a big deal just snap them back in. Nope. although there snapped back in no problem the dog bone that links to the motor popped out without me knowing it. because the trucks are wired to the decoder for better power pick up you can't drop the trucks out without taking the shell off. So off comes the shell easy enough once you find the tabs by the coupler boxes. Inside once you get the tape off that holds the decoder and wires in place there are 4 screws 2 on each side that holds everything together. Take them out and it is easy to get the dog bones back into place.

Hope this helps in anyone else has there truck pop out

Jeff

Interesting construction.  I would say "old-school" but I don't dare anymore (someone might attack me for that kind of statement).  :x  Lots of wires everywhere - Spookshow is not going to like it.

I thought 'he has a good point and I doubt anyone who posts will appreciate his saying it.
my next thought was. "eh, ole Peteski has a thick hide, he can take it."

:-D  next time, I'll step up and snap and bark at the poster who
thinks they can whack on peteski without my permission!
That is MY job!

yer welcome.

back to the gmd1...
I looked at that photo and I decided I could not tell if it was vertical split frame or not.
it looks like the wires are for the lighting and decoder?

Have a look at an undecorated model, the sill is made out of metal and part of the whole chassis. I like this chassis, just imagine all the 'gensets' we will see in future from Rapido built the same way.

old school or not - I cannot judge - but once the BEMF is adjusted there are very sweet running locos and the sound is very good.

Thanks Victor - it means a lot coming from you!  ;)

I do have thick skin (and skull too) but I do get ticked off when someone accuses me of bashing some newly-tooled model simply because I called it an old-school design (when it really is just that).

The wires appear to be wired to the trucks too.  Kind of like what Nick wanted in the new Arnold U-boat to replace their wipers.  I wonder what kind of electric pickup method they used at the wheels.
