Did you Zee what I got?

I've been wanting one of these sets (actually two) but my Dutch keeps showing up at the wrong time.Plans are to repaint for the Grande Valley Railway even though I don't have a paint plan except for the colours yet.

I know several people that have these and they all are of the opinion that this is the best running of all the AZL diesels.I want some of the California (Surfliner) cars but not having much luck finding them except on Shapeways and those will cost as much as this whole set cost.More pics once they arrive from out of the box till finished trainset. :D

Pretty nice, Catt. How well do the cars roll?

I don't have the set yet Tom, but I've been told that some are smooth rollers and some roll like they have square wheels.Since I free lance it really won't bother me if I need to swap out the trucks for some MTLs.

Tom, so far the cars seem to roll rather well. There are only two being pulled in the picture because the full four car train looks silly on a 18.25" by 30 " layout.Engine was a little cranky at first but a few laps on clean track took care of the little problem. The layout had been in storage in a not exactly dust free environment .

Did I mention these sets are currently $99.00 at AZL Direct?  :D

I have decided to build a new slightly larger than the layout the train is setting on now.The new layout will be 25.5" wide by 44" long not counting the thickness of the fashia. Once I have started the build I will start a thread in the layout forum. The curve radius for the new layout will be 10.5" compared to the pictured layout's 8.125" radius.

Nice, I've almost pulled the trigger on one of the TRE sets a couple of times now.   Maybe someday...

Well crap.  I saw the photo of the TRE set and it showed $99 so I bought both "sets" but turns out the TRE sets weren't on sale...I was only buying the locos.       I just wasn't paying attention....had $99 on the brain.  Oh well, I e-mailed them to see if I could cancel or change the order.   In my defense, the photo for the locomotive shows the entire set.    Anyway, Haven't done anything that boneheaded in a while, I guess I should be happy about that....that it isn't too common.   :D :RUEffinKiddingMe:

I thought Rob was being rather deceitful picturing the whole set but only selling the loco.I was going to order another Metrolink set but now I think I will keep my money for other uses. :x Unfortunately AZL seems to be the only company that is really doing anything for Z scale.

Well, I'm not calling it deceitful, it clearly says locomotive in the title and description.  It was late, I wasn't paying attention...that's all.

Now, if AZL Direct is a jerk about it and won't let me correct my mistake, then we'll talk.   I sent them a message on their website almost immediately, and then followed up with an e-mail in reply to their order status message.  It's still on me, but if they don't want to play nicely then we'll deal with that then.   ;)

I am happy to report that this was taken care of.  Rob went above and beyond and I'm happy.

Guess I'm officially a z-scaler now!

Ha, yes we were typing at the same moment.  Like the progress.  What kind of track did you get.  I really know almost nothing about Z.
