UP Excursion Set, Wrong Trucks

Both Portland Rose and Columbine have the wrong trucks (ISH vs OSH). I knew they was going to ship this way from an email back in Aug, but forgot about it until I was putting my set away tonight. Even though Paul made it sound like they wouldn't be shipped that way. Two more sets of trucks I'm going to have order to go with a bunch of others.

Sad that we are going to have to spend at least $24 to correct the problem.

Really surprised no one has said anything about it.

Does Kato make the correct trucks , if not who does ?

Would the correct trucks have increased the 7 car set more than 24 dollars ?

Are the correct trucks compatible with the lighting optional 7 car set ?

The Kato OSH trucks under the sleeper and dome diner in the set will also work under the coach and the dome.  I agree, major faux pas on Kato for half - a$$ing the trucks under those cars.

I will be changing mine out as well at the earliest convenience.

Is there a mix of screw on and clip on trucks still?

You mean a "bogie snob"?  (Bogie sounded better than truck).  :)

Yes there is, and of course Kato Japan isn't interested in changing the original screw type to the now current snap in trucks.

And yes, it should be a fairly minor fix (or so I've been told), it was just the fact that even though its only 2 cars in that set, it just adds to the other 3 Coaches, 2 Dome-Coaches, 72' Baggage Car, and 1 Kitchen Car for a total of 9 cars, it just becomes a little bit of frustration.

Oh well, least after I change the trucks, diaphragms, modify some, paint and decal the cars I still will come out cheaper than brass. Only wish though someone would sell the power car alone as I definitely would buy it and renumber it. Also thinking about grabbing another flag car and swapping truck for the 4 axle version to have Council Bluffs. My original post wasn't exactly meant to be a whine, but more about a cry for help about what exactly I'm going to have to file off the newer trucks to get them to swap easily?

Not a trivial thing. The entore mold woudl have to be modified.  Very expensive.

And it will run so much better too!  Plus, you can easily illuminate the interiors (which most brass cars usually lack).

I haven't tried that yet, but from I recall Bryan B. stated is that the kingpin diameter is the same. The only thing you have to (easily) trim is the pair of small latches in the kingpin hole in the truck.
