Well gang, I don't want to toot my own horn because I know I can't come close to the work of the artists on TRW. However, I must show some pics of the super detailing that I have done to my 844 :

This thing is a beast, as we all know. That's me At 6'-1-1/2" ......

Not only is she a beast but look at all the small items tucked up under the running board.

Hope you enjoy and thanks for looking.

Carl

PS : Richie was posting his while I was composing mine but look at his and notice how much of "the small stuff" KATO has included." If that's not  a
case of raising the bar, I don't know what is.

Did a little work this evening including adding a little ventilation for the crew and changing the numbers to 836. I still need to do the number boards but I need some smaller decals then what I have on hand. Otherwise it's not too bad and is a bit less glossy now. Subtle weathering was done with tamiya powders. all I  have on hand is the ms  silver's so dry transfers will do for now.  they are the same block lettering but not quite as thick.  they don't look bad in person but the pictures really make it obvious.

Looks more like Western Pacific numerals than Union Pacific ones, IMO.

they were from a dry transfer I grabbed.  looked like they were the right block style lettering but just not bold enough I guess lol.  good eyes though.

Wellllllllllll... now I wasn't going to be the one to bring it up... but since this discussion is open... despite the wiggle room Richie has generously offered, it's simply the wrong font. The generic MS lettering set is based on Helvetica, arguably the most common "block" (a/k/a "sans serif") style font. UP used and uses a distinctive style, more or less based on the Futura family, but with many differences in the shape of the numbers. A comparative sample is attached below.

So when you get a chance, grab a MS UP steam set. I think you'll be happier with it.
