Just read about this but no mention on who they sold it to.  Anyone got any ideas?  Maybe NS?

Rumors dating back to spring indicate most probably NS.

 :?
G&W Industries has been rather active buying up roads.
considering the battle for D&H that CP went thru, this does
seem odd they are dumping it now.
but stranger things have happened !

D&H is like the old Canada Southern, everyone thought it was a gem... except the one operating it. It's been a mixed blessing, but one wonders if this'll mean bye-bye to CP oil trains Chicago to MTL?

The sale is mentioned in that article, and executives were quoted as saying a deal has been reached, but they wouldn't say who the buyer is.

Thanks eric220. I couldn't find anything, and was beginning to think it was one of those internet rumor things. Of course, if names are not being mentioned, the deal probably isn't fully complete.

I saw something on one of the Wall Street things I get that the supposed buyer is GW. And the other week, one of my shortline contacts mentioned that CP has simply disappeared in Philadelphia. Used to see some power on the old B&O line along the Schuylkill heading to Delaware River waterfront as well as along 95 by the stadiums and Navy Yard. Not now.

G&W? Ugh, not another one.

Really, I just wish D&W would change their paint scheme, then I'd probably be their biggest fan. It's just that yellow + orange combo is tacky as hell.

Taking that back. Heard from source who asked for silence on this that GW is not buying. I can't tell you who is since I'll honor that request.

Personally, I'd rather they leave the paint schemes mostly alone and either subletter the locomotives or just add "A G&W Family Line" or some such phrase. They've killed off so many classy paint schemes

The deal is only for the south end of the D&H, ~Sunbury-Schenectady. CP is retaining the section into Schenectady to service GE, as well as the Colonie main which is now a Bakken pipeline save for a handful of local customers south of Saratoga Springs. The meat of the D&H has always been the north end. The south end is only valuable as a bridge line for traffic coming out of New England. While CP doesn't really care about that having several connections to New England, NS is itching to get control of the line to compete with CSX for the Maine paper market. There's talk of additional intermodal trains from Boston-St Louis and Boston-Southeastern US to augment the current Boston-Chicago train. Nice to see someone who actually cares about running the railroad stepping in, as well as rounding out a competitive rail network in this region.
