Oh joy. Another trip idea the CRHS had and Amtrak stole. SMDH.

Amtrak has added a full dome to the Adirondack for the next few weeks as in previous years.

Are you frigging kidding me?

Again. Ugh.

Word to the wise: don't trust Amtrak as a partner if you're trying to run an excursion, they'll stab you RIGHT in the back.

Looks like Amtrak kept a close look on the CRHS trips and said "HEY" we can make extra money doing this.  Sure does screw up an CRHS trip planning.

It does indeed. However, I'm looking at the possibility of running a train next fall that isn't Amtrak involved over rare mileage. We don't need 'em! Lol

Fucking assholes. Looks like they actually realized they need to raise their price by 50% if they want to actually make money this time around.

I don't know either.  Amtrak's Cardinal runs through the New River Gorge in WV, but the CPHRHS in Huntington still runs their New River Gorge Fall Foliage trains every year, with Amtrak equipment.  There doesn't seem to be any problem with that relationship.  It was this last weekend, in conjunction with Bridge Day, when pedestrians and BASE jumpers are allowed on the NRG highway bridge.

One year quite a while back one of the jumpers landed on top of the Fall Foliage train, and they had to stop to get him and his parachute off...

Since I'm not in the loop, what happened here?

The routes in question from Amtrak were proposed by the CRHS over a year ago, but Amtrak wouldn't give permits for the CRHS train.  Now they are running them for themselves.  Essentially Idea theft . . . .
