So when people get these new #5's please post with any possible changes that were made. My constant layout building would go much quicker if I could just simple buy turnouts instead of building them.

The turnouts are the same as they were in our last production. Just a different factory.

The #5 turnouts that I ordered are scheduled to be delivered to my house today.  They're at the local post office as I write this.  I'm working today, but I plan to take a close look at the turnouts and let y'all know what I find.  It wouldn't bother me if they made a few improvements, e.g., straightening the turnout.  I'll let you know, hopefully, tonight or tomorrow.

I'm home, and the package of turnouts was waiting for me.  To say the least, I am not happy.  :x :x :x  Look at this garbage: Is this a #5 right or a ****ing wye? 



Well, it answers the question of whether the new turnouts will have addressed the issue of straightness.  Clearly, the answer is not only, "No," but it's worse than I've ever seen.  :x :x :x  I'll have to deal with them later, perhaps tonight, due to family plans.  Hopefully, I can straighten most of the bend out of them.  Sheesh.  :x :x :x

Ugh. This was my concern - new supplier, new back-and-forth wrangling over QC. This is really, really bad. Looks like Paul and/or Cory have an unpleasant trip ahead of them in hopes of getting this fixed before the #7s and 10s are shipped. If it's a similar situation with those, then I would expect delays. :(

I for one am really baffled by this issue. I guess I don't understand quality control. It seems pretty straightforward to specify that "this part is straight". The plastic blister and cardboard layout is also odd. It looks like it was built for a wye turnout. Is it possible that the wrong turnout was packaged as a #5 right? I have been contemplating a switch to HO, and this track issue might push me over the edge.

Really?!  Just because one manufacturer has quality control problems you going to throw in the N-scale towel?!  You will forsake the ability to have 4 times as much layout in the same square footage?  :|

Yep, along with other factors outside the scope of this thread, the multi-year lack of this ready-to-run track product line might be the last straw for me. If I go this route, I will start a separate existential thread wherein everyone can tell me their opinion of what I should do.  ;)

Peco still makes fantastic turnouts.  After seeing this new atlas stock I sure am glad I decided to go peco rather than wait for more atlas.

Dave .. I got my 10 in today . they are packaged the same way . . but .. I have several old stock (4-5 year old) packages in the basement -- the blister pack is identical .. so this isn't an error ..  it actually is how its supposed to be
