Not at all Victor ,
:D

If Fox Valley makes one well, at least I did my part.  It would be a perfect engine for Matt to make.

Btw You still need some T1 parts, don't you.

Best,
Jason

Update:  let's just say Matt Gaudynski (Fox Valley) is the MAN!!

MOST excellent, sir!  I know by reputation that his products are labors of love and he's a real model railroader, so
somehow, I thought he would want to help you (no, I don't know him personally).

I have been told that Winston Churchhill once said
"when you are going through h*ll, keep going."
I understand you recently took such a walk.
shortly after I got the T1 shell...
I started down my own version and I retreated from a lot of
situations simply because I did not know if my problems were spilling over
into my hobbies and ruining them.

To answer your question directly.
I do not think or feel you need to send me additional castings.
I could use them because they will make building my T1 easier.

If you have them ready to go, we can PM over prices and shipping.
Otherwise....:-D
waste no time on the subject.

Build the Blue Goose!

Going to enjoy watching "The Goose Show"  :D
Thanks for posting the HO model pic, the old girl was sharp when new. She didn't age well in her world of primarily oil burning steamers. Your frame mods are as interesting to follow as your beautiful boiler creation process. Robert

Jason,

Good to see you back on track (pun intended), still haven't finished my AC-9.

Looks like I might need to do some more artwork?

You evil, genius, fatherless!!!!  ....... I have never loved an idea I hated so much.   I have written Matt, your right the drivers are perfect!

First of all, welcome back Jason. Missed you!
I absolutely agree those 84" long legs are key to making this project believable. I had looked at the Hiawatha mech a while back and while the wheels are close to perfect, the Atlantic driver spacing is wrong, its not just a matter of stretching it. You will need three tightly spaced wheelsets for this baby; the proto rigid (driver) wheelbase was 14'-6.

Some 35 years ago I built the 3462, a nonstreamlined Santa Fe Big Hudson on which the Goose was built on a cut down Bmann chassis and it didn't look right without those big drivers. Granted, the Bman drivers were way undersized, more so than the GS 4. Still, I wonder whether there is a way to graft those FVM big wheels onto an old ConCor Hudson mech; the driver wheelbase is just about right on, and the FVM flanges are much finer to perhaps allow bigger wheels in the same axle slots....? I don't own a Hiawatha to test this theory, so I'm just putting it out there...
Have fun!
Regards, Otto K.

Don't get me wrong Jason, but is there a word or two missing from your statement about decals?

Would any of you fine gentlemen in possession of a FVM Hiawatha or its drivers mind taking a micrometer and measuring the outer diameter of the wheel, including the flange, for me? I have another project in mind.... 8)
Thanks in advance,
Otto K.

Pete's review that he posted the link to says .520" with a flange of 0.026".
