Are my sources correct that the road numbers offered would have overlapped with the UP COLA?  Could they have run on it.

What are your sources?

I think I remember this topic coming up somewhere and the little I can recall, images of CNW E8's pulling the COLA are not common ( as in, I don't think I've ever seen one).

Hi Brian, I have an old Pentrex video about railroading around the Chicsgo area. I remember seeing the E-8's used in C&NW's push-pull service but can't say for certain if they were used early with UP's cola trains?  Though it may have been possible with their early venture together with long distance passenger service.

I have confirmation of E7s in photos but it looks like CNW bought some E8s before the Milwaukee Road hand off.

The COLA began running on Milwaukee rails in November 1955 but the Kato COLA set (out of the box) represents the train as of April 1956.

That is what I needed to know.  For some reason I was thinking the Kato set was 1953 or 1954.  I need Kato to run MR E units.  Still looking for a reason to pick up the C&NW E8.  Thanks Skytop.
