More yummy PS1 boxcars from Atlas

Hey Paul,

Your May 2014 announcement lists an Atlas Master 40' PS-1 with 8' doors for the Atlanta & West Point.  Black/Silver in two road numbers.  The picture was omitted.

I'm going to order them anyway; but how about giving us a peek?

The GN scheme is a renumber, yes? Anyone chime in as to when?
The GN only bought 15 cars new and they were part of the cushioned underframe group, originally numbered #21950-21964. Is that correct?

I would like one of these cars, but the renumber is probably past my timeframe....

Service date is 2/54.  Best to ask Atlas, but they usually work from photos so it's probably legit.

I am definitely reserving a few of these @ the LHS.  I am anxious for Atlas to begin stocking the new PS-1 doors in their system - the 7 and 8-footers look to be perfect for use on the 10'6" Intermountain kits.

My guess is around 1960. There is a photo of 39409 on page 49 of the GN Color Guide and page 49 in the GN Color Pictorial Vol 1.

The only photos of I found of the GN cars in their original numbers were taken at the Michigan City plant in Ed Kaminski's Pullman-Standard Fright Car Book. While it was enough to do art off of, the cars weren't completely stenciled and had no logo, so I wasn't sure if they were complete. In my head, I can't say I've seen many, if any GN boxcars without a logo of some sort. So if you can find me some more info on the completed cars, I'd be more than happy to put the as-delivered number series in the queue.

The pic on the site clearly shows the service date as the same as the build date FYI. But I knew that wasn't the case.
Having seen a pic of a car with the original numbering, was the car number painted in white and or Roman?
I'll do some digging and see if I can find you some more info on the original number series, thank you for the offer!

I also send an email enquiry as per a suggestion here, which you can now disregard, although I tacked on a request for the S2 trucks (amongst others; C3, Andrews) being made available for purchase separately!

  C&O had 10
  have the info at home,so will get back to this .
  all 100 cars had the same Cushioned Underframes,ASF A-3 50 ton solid bearing trucks.8' Superior Doors.

Following Cory's suggestion (upthread) I did a little checking and the photo in Kamiinski's Pullman book shows the GN boxcars in what appears to be a monochrome paint scheme, missing a logo. So looks like the pretty GN scheme that Atlas is doing includes a repaint and renumbering.

The 2nd 8' door release is due in a few weeks, is the Southern Car Atlas is doing the 'as built' scheme?
