It might be possible to buy the sideframes from InterMountain to install on your existing SD50 units.

I'm kinda spooked now. I really hope the SD50 issues were corrected cause if not why on earth would they use parts from that model? Unless the parts are just cosmetic parts and not drive train parts? I really want their NS SD40-2's!!!

Very well could be. Everyone says it was the earlier runs although has it ever been verified that it was a particular run? I will probably end up getting a pair the latest run SD60.

It's interesting though that IM is using Atlas parts. Never knew that.

I was very involved in that research.
And I hardly EVER hear anything about it any more.

I think it was the early run.  I have no idea what Atlas changed, but it would appear the problem was resolved.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!  But, gosh, I hope not.

I'm still tempted to repower my SBD SD50s.  I have them running just good enough that it has prevented me from pulling the trigger to date on that expensive purchase, but I still am not 100% satisfied with the running characteristics of mine.  I'm already out at least $30.00 on replacement trucks from Atlas that resolved nothing.

Sorry, but the assumption is incorrect.  SD40-2 should be all new ground up.
