Two pleasant surprises this week. Both are iPhone grabs caught en route during errands.

Got lucky on this one in that the SD60F was leading. Zebra's are getting hard to come by and it's a personal favourite of mine, regardless of what is wearing it. The runthrough UP toaster isn't a bad catch, either:

I did not catch it on a camera, but we had a CN train led by CN, NS, BNSF X2 toasters, and at the end of the oil cans, a Conrail boxcar.  I almost hit a telephone pole when I saw the latter!

Lots of foreign power on CN these days, especially oil trains.

Caught CSX 8100 leading D-795 in Hanover, PA on Wednesday.


Also caught a rental unit, seen second in line in above photo, in New Oxford, PA on Monday.

And the NS 1074 (DL&W) was in Toronto today (arrived on CN 394 Apr23, left on CN 383 Apr24). It was trailing CN 2551 and CP 9553 on train 383... I caught it near Georgetown but alas, no sun

New tank for a vinagar car located in Blue Ridge Summit between Gettysburg and Chambersburg, PA.  Tank is made of wood and is replacing a rotting one which was on this car.  My nephew sent me this as he works for the trucking company and helped deliver it.  Far as I know it is the only car of this type left on the east coast.

Maybe, but doesn't matter - they'd still be illegal for interchange. Conversions don't read correctly with hotbox detectors. A car that specific is most likely in a captive service anyway.

But it's a cool car nonetheless, and a major miracle to be important enough to somebody in 2014 to rebuild. Reporting marks?

I may be wrong, but I think this is in Fayetteville, PA along Rt 30, between Gettysburg and Chambersburg.  BRS is about 15 miles south of where I believe this photo is taken

You are correct.  It is near Fayetteville.
