Hmmm... I think I've heard of this 'CP Rail' company. Might buy a trio if they're the 8" nose stripe scheme without striping on the cab face, otherwise just a single... not that I know what any of that means.

I of course have no choice but to order a couple of MKT units.   Kato will never, ever make them, and doubtful they'll be coming from the dash 2 project any time soon either.  Then I can dual era with the best of 'em.   That is, if they don't get cancelled.   The Atlas Katy stuff seems to sell pretty well though.

I've heard about the SD45-2 issues.  I am one of the lucky ones who bought a good one.  I've nothing but good things to say about it.  I've never had to take the shell apart it came painted a wonderful shade of Conrail blue.  I guess I'll have to tempt fate and order 2 Conrail units.  I would hate being shut out if they are a hit.  If not, I am pretty sure I could make it work.  Just might grumble and complain whilst I do.  Can anyone advise on the quality or shortcomings of the SD40-2W's that they released a little while back?  I've not heard much about them and our hobby shops here in town didn't receive any.  Thanks

Is there any way to verify the correct railway specific details ie. nose lngths, grilles?  The artwork shown is generic for all units but the accompanying text suggest variations to accommodate the prototype differences.

I find their modern BNSF number choices interesting. The BNSF Swoosh units they picked have all been renumbered into a lower series or are off the roster already.

Wish they would offer an un-numbered unit, or at least an undec.   But I guess not enough people buy them.

How hard is it to remove IM paint & lettering?     Does 91% alcohol usually work?

Who knows what's driving their choices for numbering. It may easily be they are relying on photographic references that match the details of the two or three styles they appear to be producing. I was disappointed by the first run that the UP choices were all ex-C&NW and therefore useless to pre-merger UP modelers, but on closer examination none of their tooling so far hits the right detail combos for the zillions of -2's UP bought in the '70s and '80s.

I can't say how easy it would be to remove the numbering, but I am sure that unnumbered units would not sell well. 

The BNSF numbering issue is one of the challenges of producing these units- they have had so many roads and road numbers.  What I find encouraging, and we can look to the record with the SD units in the past as well, is that IM tends to produce a wide range of roads and numbers.  I would not be surprised if they don't come out with both the new and old series numbers for BNSF.

Wow, the MSRP difference between DC and DCC/sound is $110.  With a basic DC-only MSRP of $139.95, it'll be interesting to see what the street price is.

I fear I'm being priced out of dual-era...and I'm a Pennsy man first.

They seem to have been delivered after the 5" stripes were dropped, so none should be in the 'candy cane' scheme.

Growing up in Alberta, all you ever saw were CP SD-40-2 units.  Love the big multi-mark.  With the IM bathtub gons, a person could do a respectable 1980s Mountain Sub.
