Layout Animation

I bought a motor on ebay, intended for another Atlas Mogul tender drive conversion.  What I received didn't match the description, both too large and waaay too slow (about 80RPMs).  Long story short, I opted to just keep it knowing I can use it somehow, somewhere, someway.  This sparked the question, what all could I do with it?

What are some great uses of layout animation?

Well that's damn cool!  Kits or custom?  Any documentation of the build/mechanics behind it all?

Also, did anyone else notice the suggested videos after the N scale carnival?  The HO "sexy scene"
(probably NSFW)

Thanks Mark!

Most rides are either slightly or heavily modified kits. Most of which are unfortunately out of production. Everything else is scratch-built (by my friend Roland Kelley). I did the ride modifications and animation, plus all the lighting and electronics.

Here is a helpful thread (for as long as the A-board is around): http://forum.atlasrr.com/forum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=58447

BTW, while 85 rpm is a bit fast, you could run it at reduced voltage and animate a gas station sign. DKS made one of those long time ago. It adds a touch or life to the scene.

Here are some more ideas via Rick Spano:

I either helped work on them or built them myself for Rick, so I can help out with more details.

Keep the sweet stuff coming!  I remember seeing/reading about the excavator before.  I'd like to do something similar with my Telescoping Boom Forklift.

Speaking of Telescopes... why not Telescopes!  Being an astronomer/astrophotographer, I think I have to do a scale animated telescope.  I could even add the laser used for Adaptive Optics!

Another idea I had was an underground Missile Silo.  Doors open, missile raises, then a burst of air launches it.  The missile would be a painted Nerf dart.

Lower the voltage to get about 40 rpm and build one of these:
