As far I know the redesignation was mainly done to get rid of the old and sometimes weird classifications. The new system should only be numbers and no characters.
E.g. the E was for electric locomotives. Instead of the E they all got a 1.
E 10 => 110

0 = Steam locos
1= Electric locos
2 = Diesel locos
3 = Diesel Switcher
4 = Electric Rail Cars (I don't know how to translate the German word 'Triebz├╝ge' - think of ICE trains but also of commuter trains...)
5 = Battery Rail Cars (rechargeable)
6 = Diesel Rail Cars

There are some additional categories.

I see that an updated version of the Trix BR110 (DCC-Ready, etc) is currently available. Anybody know when that came out?

Thanks,
-Mark

Oh yeah - one more question re the old Minitrix E 10 / BR 110. Mine has a PC board running along the top of the chassis that provides directional lighting control. It also allows one to select current draw from the pants (by way of a screw-type selector up on top of the shell). I guess it's safe to assume that these were features that were not available with the original 1965 releases?

Thanks,
-Mark

Mark - if things are slow how about adding a section on all the powered chassis available.
ie motor voltage, how many axles are powered etc.
Cheers
Al

Sorry, confused here. "My version" (the one I actually have) has directional lighting and catanery pickup. Is that the post-1975 version or does that date all the way back to '65?

Thanks,
-Mark

Yeah, confused here as well... :D
If you have the one pictured in your first posting, it is the pre 1975 version.

Yes, the one pictured in my first post is the one I have. Hard to believe that that dates back to '65, though?

Cheers,
