Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Hope someone picks up their molds, etc.  Got me wondering why they are doing this.

Hopefully the molds get passed on like Heljan's oldies...I put together a Life-Like recycling center and the roof still had the Heljan brand on the roof...

That is bad news. Their kits were always of very good quality.

That is sad.  Their kits were really top-notch stuff.  I didn't use a lot of them, because they had such a strong
European look to them.  Their churches and cathedrals work perfectly for city scenes.

It is sad, indeed. Since starting n scale in the 70s I had a lot of Vollmer (and Faller) kits.

Here is a news paper article about Vollmer and that "Porsche" is buying their ground to expand;-) translated into english with google translator:

Front Porsche or back Porsche?

Unhappy news. Yes, Euro protos, but a dependable staple in the hobby for decades. They will be missed.

I'm sure Walther's will buy the ancient tooling, produce next to none of it, then tell us they're doing us a favor when it trickles out at 10 times the price Vollmer charged...

So cynical, Lee. Just because they've done that in the past doesn't mean that.. oh wait, it probably does

I'd think another European firm would be more likely to buy their line. Besides, Walthers is busy up to their ears not producing LL stuff.

That really stinks!
If Porsche wants their land, why not just relocate?  How about to Romania or even China or India?!
If nobody picks up their tooling and continues manufacturing all those wonderful kits, I'll be crushed!

I think this is perfect time to start another "this hobby is dying" thread!
