The usual topic drift over on the weekend modeling thread got me to thinking.....

Is there a thread / page reference / railroad nut source page  of the various standard railroad fonts and how they relate to similar or close electronic fonts?

This would be really useful for custom lettering and decals, as well as control panels, you name it.  I suspect that 'most' die-hard fans of a particular railroad know what THEIR font is, just haven't shared it.

Santa Fe, of course, is Cooper Black, with some slight tweaks.   Anyway, close enough that I'm happy with Cooper Black as the default font on randgust.com   

Who else, or who has the 'master page' that's already been done?

Now this thread seems to be a good candidate for a move to the Prototype Research Links.  Maybe even becoming a sticky? Seriously!

Wow, that's amazing.   There's a lot there, but it's by no means all-inclusive.

Hopefully this won't die and slide off, if there's enough responses it would be really useful.

Yes! I've bought a number of fonts from railfonts.com. Very handy resource, indeed.

BTW, Union Pacific is Futura Bold, with a couple of variations that make the railfonts version worth having. Burlington Northern was Univers Black 75, as was Great Northern BSB.

That solves my problem of the Pennsy sleeper in the COLA, which was painted Armour Yellow, with red Pennsy-style lettering.  My buddy with the Alps printer will be hearing from me this week for sure!
