Big difference between the prototype and the model. The hi-rez pics have been posted on the MTL site.
The runner pack announced is a set of four faux X58s. There's only one source for prototypically-accurate ready-to-run X58s — in any scale. An accurate RBL-classified model will be in the stores toward the end of March.
OK, so I gotta ask... Did UP have a unit train of boats? http://www.micro-trains.com/cs-N_1405_up905.php I have to believe maybe a Pacific Northwest train of some type? The "X58" Runner Pack is a headscratcher, but typical. But the unit train of boats really has me curious. Pinning hopes on the weathered car(s). I have to find a way to acquire them though...I've not been able to buy the last 6 months of releases. Anybody have any thoughts? I've gone back to the LHS and the "process" takes too long with MTL's announce schedule and the LHS being closed on Monday. Any e-tailers that regularly deliver the MTL goods? (may have to channel Rossford Yard via my old e-tailer "pusher" on this one)
When I was in some of the Navy yards back during my service we would routinly get new life boats and gig boats via rail in much longer strings....UP delivered 50 to Hunters point one day and those were loaded on an LSD and taken overseas. I was just trying to reproduce something interesting.
I hear you on the weathered cars. I am trying to get production bumped up on these and have. My numbers are way up and still can't meet demand. Horrible, horrible problem to have. I think we are to the point where I can make a case for including these in a new standing order catagory so I can have a level to start with. Trust me, I am doing a significant number more than last year. You may want to call the front office and ask...we get returns and hold backs and there may be some of the ones you are looking for by Mark's Desk.CheersJoe
Joe,I was specifically talking about thisThe other cars in that batch show up as sold out at the factory - this one doesn't Some of the other ones are in stock at MBK. This car doesn't show up. I was simply asking if this car was already shipped out of the factory or is it still being worked on?I think that you.re doing an awesome job on all those weathered releases. If this is really a one-man weathering job, my hat's off to you. Some of the new (ink jet) printing techniques must help in the process, but there is still quite a bit of manual weathering involved. I appreciate what MT is doing here, and I endorse this venture with my wallet (which is getting thinner and thinner).
