  Scott,
No they are not the same. When I start the scenery, I'll cut them off.
I'm going to try to post some prototype photos that I have, so stay tuned.

I found 4 photos that I took the first time I went through the Canyon.

Here is the split and the mainline is to the right and the high line to the left.

The high line side

Main on the left, high line on the right

Mainline side

There are better photos out there on the web but these will give you a idea what I'm trying to recreate

An amazing bit of railroad, for sure. I 'fanned it in the '70s, and left California the year before the WP was eaten. I understand there's a bit more traffic on the high line now.

Sure, Rodney, by all means come on down. But be careful with your timing... I might just put a drywall gun in your hands. :D

Looks great Rodney! A lot more done since the last time I saw it! I'm home this week so maybe I'll get some time to run up there.

Now on with more of the benckwork.

Here is what you see as you enter the layout room.

The track is about 78" off the floor over the doorway (this isn't a duck under is it???)

Cilo Trestle will go here. I still have some work to do to get what I want to fit length goes. The straight that is there now is 38" and I want 48".

Looking from Cilo Trestle towards Portola.  I'm working on subroadbed now in this area.

Looking from Portola to Cilo Trestle.

Next will be where Portola is going to be.

That would be great. I could use your help cutting the subroadbed.  I'll call ya later.

Any plans to include Williams Loop on the layout?

Looks awesome so far. That's a lot of railroad!

Check the first image in the first post of this thread. Williams Loop is in the upper right corner.

(this isn't a duck under is it???)

Not for me, but it might be for anyone over about 72 inches tall.

 Portola

The Portola yard will start about here. This is right above Oroville yard.

and around the coner

Looking back the other way

The other end of the yard and where it will tie back into the helix

I'm going to try to get my son to come take a video of the whole layout once the mainline is in. Then maybe you can get a better idea of the whole layout.

   Thanks Otto,
It is getting there slowly. Still working on the Keddie bridge for the mainline.  I hope to start laying track in Keddie yard and up to Williams Loop today.

I have the mainline side of Keddie bridge installed. I need to get the other bridge done before I put the railings on. It will get complicated on the Wye end of the bridges.
