What Era is This Cement Mixer?

I found this on eBay:

I'd like to know the era before I bid on it. Would that kind of truck be around in 1971?

According to Wikipedia, "The Mack B Model was a heavy truck produced by Mack Trucks between 1953 and 1966."

According to the Athearn's website: "The Mack 'B' was first produced in 1949 and remained in production until 1966 when it was replaced by the Model 'R'. Both series of trucks enjoyed a long service life with many of the 'R' models still in service today. During their long lives both types of Mack trucks were converted for a number of tasks including two and three axle tractors, tow trucks and construction trucks."

Back in 1972 when my dad was having our second house built the concrete was delivered to us via B model Mack's and the company that was running them ran them into the early eighties.

I ran a plant for a ready-mix company in the mid 90's.  We had several trucks with 15-20 years on them.   Even had a driver who was younger than the White Constructor he drove.  And he was in his mid-late 20's.  While that's not the norm, it does happen here and there.  I see several "experienced" tractors and trucks in farm service around here.

It's a shame, but it seems like Athearns Mack B line has dried up.

Welcome to the world of limited runs (not just locomotives or rolling stock, but also everythign else related to the hobby).  :(  Maybe Athearn will re-run them 5 years from now.  :|

At least there is some hope for a Mack re-run (unlike those nice John Deere farm tractors - these will never be produced again).
