Is that really all that different from all those silly slogans on product packaging?  "New and improved", when it is not, "Now even better", when it isn't really, etc.  Something to catch your eye. 

BTW, it is "real",  and it is a "thing" - isn't it?

No where near as bad as the fact that both packages are emblazoned with "Loco and Tender" when neither one have tenders--or would have under any circumstances (one's a diesel for Pete's sake).

BN had tenders for some of their diesels...

On that die-cast MDT:  Is the body and chassis one piece, or could one put the diecast body on the Lima chassis?  The extra weight might help it run a little better...but I doubt it.

One thing about those old blister packages that stood out for me were the pre-printed price tags, which imitate the price tag stickers. They are even printed crooked, as if they were applied by hand.  These items were made specifically to sell in that store chain. I think that these were made for K-Mart, but it might have been Woolworth.

If you mean that I don't list it in the main index of the locomotive encyclopedia, you are correct (what with it being a non-powered junk toy). However, I do mention it (along with some pictures) on the aforementioned Lima MDT page (since it appears to be a knock-off copy of the Lima model).

Mark, I'm not that into dead horse beating, and I'm not saying you need to add non-powered junk toys to your index, but to be clear...

There are two locos in the eBay listing Daniel posted, and one is a steam 0-4-0 .  The steamer is not on your Lima MDT page.

Not me.  I firmly believe we are approaching N-scale Nirvana as each new car and engine comes with a higher level of detailing and accuracy.  Modern plastic cars and engines have far eclipsed brass imports of just a few years ago...and at a much lower price point.

Yup...almost Nirvana.  When Athearn or Kato comes out with an FEF-3, Veranda Turbine and/or a Baby Turbine....then it WILL be Nirvana for me!
